Research and Academic Medicine Society

The Dundee Research and Academic Medicine Society (DRAMS) is a student-led society within the School of Medicine at Dundee. We are sponsored by Dundee Clinical Academic Track, INSPIRE, Academy of Medical Sciences and the Wellcome Trust. Along with our advisor Dr. Anna Maria Choy, our main aim is to promote research and academic medicine within the medical school, and to provide students with opportunities in research. We host many events throughout the year that will give students a chance to engage and network with academics at both the university and hospital.

Our Events:

· Academics and students showcase their work and share their experience

Discovering Research

· A national undergraduate student conference that allows students from all over the country to submit abstracts for a chance to present their work in the form of poster or oral presentations.

Journal Club

· Facilitated by senior consultants or lecturers, students can volunteer to present and critically appraise papers that have been selected for the session

Journal Watch Newsletter

· Quick summaries of interesting journal articles

· Students can volunteer to contribute to the newsletters

Themed Research Talks

· Other talks include our yearly MRC-PPU Night (Protein Phosphorylation and Ubiquitylation Unit)

Workshops

· Types of workshops include literature searching and referencing, critical appraisal, introduction to medical statistics, and many more!
