DUMS Football Club

DUMS FC currently compete in the top division of the Dundee Saturday Morning football league while also entering several cup competitions yearly, enjoying good runs in the past couple of seasons. We usually play from early September until the end of May and train once a week on a Wednesday afternoon, however with the current COVID pandemic we are unsure when competitive games will resume. We are aiming to hold training sessions in line with current guidance from fresher’s week onwards and look forward to seeing you there.

As well as competing in domestic competitions, every year we expand beyond the reaches of Dundee and play in nationwide tournaments. Every year we play in SNIMS, a sporting tournament that invites all medical schools in Scotland to compete to the best of their ability on a Saturday afternoon of sport, after spending a raucous Friday night together. Although the sport is competitive, the main events for most is the Friday and Saturday night.

For the past three years, we have travelled to a different European city each year to play a local team and experience the local “culture”. Both Prague and Budapest have been firm favourites for most members of the football team. We would hope to hold another trip this year but again will have to wait and see if the situation allows. DUMS maintain a 100% unbeaten record in 90 minutes on the European stage. Let’s not mention penalties.

We invite players of all levels of ability to come along and give it a try. Even if you just fancy the social aspect of joining a sports team then you are more than welcome to come along as a social member. We meet at our sponsor bar every Saturday evening after our games and enjoy free food and discounted drinks. Our Social Secretaries also organise several nights out throughout the course of the year, which many of the guys in the team will say are their favourite.

Joining DUMS FC is the perfect opportunity to instantly meet a big group of friendly, like-minded people. We are all happy to help you if you have any questions about the course or about Dundee in general. Within the team, there is a large mentoring aspect which many of the younger players really benefit from. This can be particularly useful around exam time, as older members of the team host revision nights, for OSCEs and online exams. If you are interested in joining, then please don't hesitate to come see us at the Fresher’s Fair or email either of this year's captains.

We really do look forward to hearing from you!
